I squeaked with pleasure this morning when I went to the workshop to obsessively check on the kombucha; it was happily floating on the surface of the jar full of sweet tea, swirling in its blobby membranous slime. YAY!
Kombucha is this weird frisbee-shaped fungus (some would say it is a type of mushroom)that ferments the sugar in the sweet tea and makes a drink that's apparently full of b-vitamins and other antioxidants, above the normal antioxidants found in tea.
I gotta update on the kombucha project, because it took a turn for the worse! :(
Hi MJ.FTW, my apologies for not posting your comment earlier!
I'm not really sure what kombucha is and do not know if it is related to rice in any way. I just know I now have two jars of it on top of my refrigerator and they're multiplying like crazy. That's for another post, however :)

What is this kombucha you speak of? It sounds... ominous...
